    On May 05th 2026, multiple militant organisations released a statement on the target killing of prominent religious cleric, Sheikh Muhammad Idrees Turangzai, who was killed by unidentified gunmen in Charsadda district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan’s North Western province. 

    Idrees was affiliated with the Deobandi religious political party, Jamiat Ulema Islam. He had travelled to Afghanistan in 2024 to meet the Taliban Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhunzada to find a solution to Pakistan’...
