The Khorasan Diary (TKD) is a non-partisan platform that provides real-time information and analysis, based on facts keeping in view ground realities. It is a joint collaboration of credible journalists, researchers, and academics from across the world.

The platform provides paid consultancy-based services for risk mitigation, security analysis, research papers, and access to original sources of information in the region.

It is also a source of information in the form of a digital media platform that focuses on the importance of the greater “Khorasan” region in terms of geopolitical, strategic, and security alliances. The aim of this project is to give people fact-based and easy-to-understand information from the areas where most mainstream media lacks access.

The Khorasan Diary’s purpose is to educate the audience about the actual grassroots developments, particularly in conflict zones. Data, reports, and news collected from multiple sources pass through multiple phases of fact-checking before they are presented to the audience.

Iftikhar Firdous

Iftikhar Firdous has been editor for two major publications in Pakistan. His career spans over 15 years reporting from conflict zones. He has a degree in psycholinguistics and is an author of several research papers analysing the discourse surrounding transnational terrorist organisations. He is also an accomplished author who has contributed to published academic anthologies on conflict, governance and policy. He is the founder of The Khorasan Diary.

Ihsanullah Tipu Mehsud

Ihsanullah Tipu Mehsud is an Islamabad based Pakistani Journalist with over a decade of experience in print, online and television journalism. He extensively covers militancy, Jihadist movements and other related security issues in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region. He is the Co-founder and Director News at The Khorasan Diary

Riccardo Valle

Riccardo Valle is a Director for Reasearch on jihadism, armed groups, and security and politics. His research activity is focused on international jihadist non-state actors in different areas, particularly but not exclusively in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region. He has a master’s degree in diplomacy and international cooperation from the University of Trieste, Italy. He is a Co-Founder of The Khorasan Diary.

Fakhar Kakakhel

Syed Fakhar Kakakhel is the Editor for Urdu content at The Khorasan Diary. He is a Peshawar-based senior journalist, researcher and trainer who specializes in covering politics and militancy in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Kakakhel is a multilingual researcher who writes in English, Urdu and Pashto. Recently, he published a book focused on militancy in South Asia and Central Asia.

Nawab Ali Khattak

Nawab Ali Khattak is Director Projects and Partnerships at The Khorasan Diary. He is a development consultant with over a decade of experience in working on various donor funded programs for USAID, FCDO, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Chemonics and DAI on Countering Violent Extremism, Security and Justice, Global Health and Economic development projects.

Kiran Butt

Kiran Butt is a journalist and the Digital Editor at The Khorasan Diary. She has worked with national and international media covering special character-based stories, politics and social issues. Recently, her reporting activities have focused on political economy in Pakistan and Afghanistan, writing for research centers, such as The Jamestown Foundation.
