On the 15th of August 2021, Taliban forces marched through Kabul, culminating a sweeping offensive, capturing 33 of the country’s 34 provinces in 9 days. In the initial days, the Taliban’s policies were relatively modest, allowing girls to attend primary schools and universities.

A Timeline of ISKP attacks on Shias in 2022

The Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) continued its sectarian campaign against Shias in 2022, both in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

According to The Khorasan Diary’s database, ISKP has claimed 18 attacks so far that targeted the Shia community since the start of this year, both with assassinations and bombings. Some of the most devastating attacks have been carried out during the months of Ramadan and Muharram.

On February 16, 2022, Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) mouthpiece Al-Azaim published the 22nd issue of its English language magazine Voice of Khorasan.
